
The Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, chaired the UPDF Joint Staff Committee, a high level UPDF leadership team.
The Joint Staff Committee comprises the CDF, Deputy CDF, Service Chiefs, Division Commanders and Chiefs of Staff of the various UPDF services.
The high level meeting is regular and always convenes at least once every month.
The UPDF leaders discussed national security and external operations.
The meeting took place at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe.

The Generals present included the CDF, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Lt Gen Sam Okiding, the Deputy CDF and Inspector General; Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga, Commander Land Forces; Lt Gen Charles Okidi, Air Force Commander; Lt Gen Jack Bakasumba, Chief of Joint Staff; Maj Gen David Mugisha, SFC Commander; and Maj Gen Richard Otto, the Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security.
The leaders assessed the current national security situation and reviewed ongoing international deployments, including operations in the Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, and South Sudan.

The meeting reinforces the UPDF’s focus on maintaining stability within Uganda and supporting regional peace efforts.
