The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has fulfilled his promise to support movie actor Arnold Mubangizi, who was recently featured in the media crying for help over wide-ranging troubles, including financial difficulties.

The CDF donated funds to him which was delivered by his military assistant, Col Christopher Muwumba at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs.

The youthful actor was appreciative of the gesture and said the money would greatly help him with the challenges he was facing with his mother.

Meanwhile, Col Muwumba told the actor that he shouldn’t suffer in silence but always reach out to the CDF’s office whenever overwhelmed.

Mubangizi played President Yoweri Museveni in the movie 27 Guns, which depicts the NRA liberation war.

After learning of Mubangizi’s challenges, Gen Kainerugaba, who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, directed his aides to support him.

“Before I turn off the tap for a long time, I have to help one last person — the young boy who acted as my father in 27 Guns. I read somewhere that he is suffering. How is that possible? I hereby order my office to take care of him immediately!” he posted on X.

Film director Loukman Ali also confirmed via an X post that Mubangizi had received the money from the CDF’s office. Ali shared a screenshot of his WhatsApp conversation with Mubangizi, part of which shows the actor thanking the General.

In media interviews, Mubangizi said people judged the movie from a political standpoint rather than as a cinematic work.

“There was a lot of negativity. They had misconceptions about me. They think I have money and that I’m also Mzee’s son from the outside,” he said.

The young actor alleged that some accused him of being a spy. He also received death threats on social media, and in 2019, he was attacked while playing football in Kireka.

Several actors worldwide have suffered hostility because audiences mistake their roles for their real personalities.

Mubangizi also revealed he had considered suicide, especially after his mother suffered a stroke and he could not afford better treatment for her.
